Our first litter was in 1974. After hunting our Airedales on our farms through the years, we entered our first hunt test in Illinois in 1998 and our first Conformation Champion in 2002. Our goal is to breed versatile AKC Airedales that can perform in any venue; in the ring, in the field... and on the couch! At Stillwaters we believe in good temperaments, working abilities, and the AKC standard. Our breedings are carefully planned and selected to maintain and improve the Airedale breed. All parents are OFA hip or Penn Hip x-rayed. Our puppies are raised in our home and extensively socialized. We perform personality tests, and selectively place puppies according to their individual personalities to match their new family's lifestyle. All of our pups are vet-checked, micro-chipped, and have all the appropriate shots & de-worming before going to their new homes. Puppies are sent home with a contract, a "puppy-pack", and AKC registration.

Deb Gutman started her 45+ career as an Airedale mom when she married Doug Fratus. 6 months after the wedding, we got our first Airedale and the rest is history. Our breeding program began with a desire to have our dogs in the conformation ring. My mentor, Sue Stafford, insisted I learn the breed's conformation standards and performance abilities before I could acquire my first girl for breeding. The rest is history. Early in our Airedale career, she introduced Doug and I to the hunting/working Airedale group and we have spent many years enjoying the friendship of hunting Airedalers from around the world.

Our breeding program centers around producing our next family member. Litters are infrequent as I'm told I can't keep them all. Our girls have proven their worth through Grand Championships and sires are picked for temperament, intelligence, and trainability. Puppies from our litters spend their lives with us and we stand behind our puppies you take into your life.
