May 2019 AKC Retriever Test Announcement

The Airedale Terrier Club of America [ATCA] Hunting and Field Committee, via its chair Scott Lichty, has announced that the American Kennel Club has granted ATCA’s petition to allow Airedale Terriers to compete in AKC Retriever Tests. The date that Airedales may begin to enter AKC Retriever Tests wasn’t given by the AKC at the time of their first announcement, but it will probably be sometime in the summer of 2019.

In anticipation of the Airedales doing well in AKC Spaniel and Retriever Tests, the HWA Rules Committee has been working on updating and revising our club’s HWA Upland and Retriever Test rules to make them more in line with AKC test rules. The newly revised HWA Upland and Retriever Test Rules will go into effect at this year’s Nationals. You can find the HWA Hunt Test Rules in the Links/Resources section of this website.
